A more realistic take on everybody's favorite RTS unit, the soviet Kirov Airship. It's got its bomb bay removed (might replace it with something else later. Any ideas?), the baloon is much larger, and it comes equipped with radars and CIWS guns for self defense.

Still in the WIP stage, but now at least it's showable. Going to continue working on it. On the mean time...

...DROP ANOTHER LOAD!

EDIT: oh, and they took out the 'enable critique' button? Well, you get the idea. Critique at will.

EDIT 2: lol, funny how it seems to be flying out of the DA frame. Is it going to bomb something else? Probably shitty Sonic the Hedgehog fanart and those losers who say RA3 sucks without even having played it.

EDIT III The Regenge of the Sith: Added the bomb bay again, a Kirov simply isn't a Kirov without bombs

Pretty good adaption of the Mighty Kirov.

As an airship fanatic, I've thought for years on what a real Kirov would be like. Yours is a fairly good interpretation, although I'd dare say the control surfaces at the tail are a bit over-sized and you'd maybe want to drop the number of engine cars. Fourteen engine cars is likely a bit too many given the fact that real-life rigid airships only required four or five, and there are also has two forward rotor cars for extra lift which would contribute to extra weight. (I always thought that was a rather good design choice...) I'd also state that the propellers on the engine cars should be tractor-type instead of pusher-type, being at the front of the engine cars.

The scaling on the command/crew gondola is likely a bit big. Granted, I've never heard Westwood or EA give an exact idea of how big a Kirov is, but I've always imagined them to be between 800 and 900 feet long. Just a bit bigger than the real life Hindenburg, a ship that if converted into a bomber like it's WWI predecessors would have virtually been a Kirov. Hindenburg had a useful lift capacity of 510,000 lbs, although that was with hydrogen rather than the Kirov's helium.

With all the technical caveats out of the way, this is still a rather good depiction of a "realistic" Kirov. The inclusion of the AK-630 CIWS antiaircraft system is most proper, something that I dearly wish the in-game unit would have retained from it's prototype designs in RA2. But I guess that would have been too much! Stupid Rockies. Or those blasted Rocket Angels in RA3...

Ah yes, the Kirov has been a favourite of mine since RA2. Great rendition.

Is good even if bomb bay has been removed, but perhaps to put the bomb bay back on? Kirov lives to bomb.
