Missile Cruiser Project 1080

Description

Alright, so this is what can be said is my first real shipbucket drawing as it's a real ship design and not yet another figment of my imagination.

However, this particular ship was never built. It was envisioned by the Soviet Union during the Cold War as a much cheaper way to achieve the same goals as the 4-billion supercarriers of the US Navy by packing the 16,000 ton, cruiser-sized ship full of tactical ballistic missiles of the "Elbrus" type, a modernized variant of the Scud missile, in four groups of 50 so as to carry 200 missiles in total. This supposedly could provide as much land-attack capability as the US aircraft carriers, but it wouldn't have been too good against ships given how the ballistic missiles lacked the guidance systems necessary to attack moving targets, and were pretty inaccurate to boot. But I guess that when you have 200 of them, it's not such a problem. While I'm stretching a leg here, it appears this thing inspired the Soviet Dreadnought on Red Alert....

The reason I uploaded this to the Nationstates club is the fact that the 1080 serves as the main heavy surface combattant of Birkaine's navy, albeit in a modified form with modern guided missiles.

Scale by shipbucket.

when i was like 7, i came up with a ship not so different from this. it was just a tiny cockpit in the front of the ship and the rest of it was just missiles. plus it was supposed to be 500 ft wide and 5000 ft long sooooooooo

yea i think like it could pack 1000000000000000000000000 missiles in one salvo
