Akina Fukuda is a North American-born Nisei (daughter of immigrants from former Japan) who has lived by the sea her whole life. Probably because of her father, retired Lieutenant Colonel Isoroku Fukuda and the exploits of mercenary codenamed "Scarface" (said to have singlehandedly brought down the entire of then-defense giant Aspindza AG) made her interested in the military at an early age and pursued this dream by eventually joining with the AUC's armed branch, an organization wherein she managed to achieve some notoriety for her endurance in battle conditions. When the so-called '21st Century Soldier' project was put into motion within the Assembly of United Corporations, she was one of the first to volunteer themselves for field-testing of the new equipment. While the project was terminated, she was allowed to retain the gear and weaponry, making her a somewhat unique soldier in battle. The next project she joined in, the United Defense Initiative, was certainly more succesful, and due to her leadership abilities she ended up as the squad commander.

Jessica is a soldier of the self-defense unit of the greatest food corporation in the world, the Global Food Supply. As it is common with the GFS Corporation, her family was relocated within the Chinese Central Plains several times and eventually relocated to the Mississipi basin to work on the enormouos farmlands the GFS owned in the area. As a young girl Jessica grew quickly bored of the constant relocation and joined the Pacification Unit, one of the largest corporate armies in the world. As the GFS wanted to strenghten its links with the Assembly of United Corporations when the UDI project came along to integrate several corporate militaries, it quickly put forwards a small group of female soldiers to join in. Thanks to luck and a ballot, Jessica ended up being chosen; and managed to secure a position within the unit thanks to her problem-solving and level-headedness; and despite her passiveness and her propensity to fly into a rage whenever a piece of electronics shows the slightest malfunction.

A West Londonese girl born in extreme poverty, older of 4 brothers who spent most of her childhood working in the Edwinstowe EC-14 deep mining facility alongside the rest of her family, several of whom succumbed to lung cancer and other unmedicated diseases while working to repay ever-increasing family debts. Despite her grim upbringing, she grew up into a person of extreme perseverance and undeterrable optimism; as well as an extreme sense of thankfulness for what little pleasures life gave her and a strong perception of authority. Her life did a 180° turn during the riots at the facility where she, despite being on the protestors' side, managed to single-handedly confront and knock out a band of 8 bandits who were planning to take the protest one step further and destroy the mine's offices with a 750kg ammonium nitrate bomb. Due to her excellent fighting abilities and her astonishing physical strenght, the Harper-Jones Company took her out of the mines and into an uniform, and put her in a low-ranking position within their security detail. Her refusal to fight against the workers created some friction with the defense directorate of the company, who solved issues by transferring her to the Assembly of United Corporations and into the UDI.

Jeanette is by far the richest of the members of the all-female UDI unit as she posesses a net worth of INT$25 million spread around shares of important corporations, luxurious property like mansions and yachts, bank accounts and several small companies. However, this is all but a distant echo of her family's gigantic wealth as members of the board of directors of now-defunct RSPC Alliance, which granted the Lelouche family a combined yearly income of more than INT$86 billion. However, corporate sabotage, the assassination of several important allies of the family (including Jeanette's fiancée) and other underhanded practices by what eventually became the West European Corporate Consortium quickly began to wear down Jeanette's family wealth. The RSPC was finally bought over by the WECC after Jeanette, her sisters and her close family were all kidnapped by guerrillas from the 'Frente de Restauración Hispano' at sea during one of their vacations. While it is unknown how the terrorists acquired gear advanced enough to pull off the operation, it is widely believed the WECC was the culprit. The kidnapping resulted in the death of Jeanette's mother, father, bodyguards, tutors and servants, and she was raped and kidnapped, eventually forced into slavery in Central America. She was rescued by a distant relative on the payroll of the SMP Eurosocieté financial corporation and was put in security, where she discovered her talent for accurate shooting. Her employer's large wealth easily influenced the AUC enough for her to be instantly added to the UDI. Despite her thraumatic past, she is a very serene person graced by an unnatural, eye-catching beauty. The fate of her two sisters is unknown, and she still searches for them.

Like most people living outside of corporate domain, not much is known of Gwendolyn other than what she claims, such as her birthplace and ending up in an orphanage in Mogadishu, Somalia because of her family not being able to afford to raise her. Like everyone else in the city, she turned to arms as a means of sustenance and formed a small band of child soldiers with her friends on the orphanage after it was closed down following the murder of its owner. As a child soldier she was on the unpaid ranks of a multitude of militias and terrorist organizations and while she grew up she had deals with most of the world's known terrorists and insurgencies. However, her band of mercenaries gradually lost its members to enemy fire and accidents until only she and her companion, Morgan, remained. She was paid by an unknown organization to destroy up the Exavil-owned experimental maritime installation 'Fiat Lux' but failed and was captured by the UDI. After spending a couple months in jail, she agreed to be released under the condition that she joined the UDI and helped them capture a ring of cyberterrorists who had collaborated in the Fiat Lux assault. She posesses a notably tomboyish, cocky personality which puts her at odds with her superiors, but makes up for it with combat effectiveness and legal loopholes.

Even less is known about Gwen's companion, Morgan, other than her origin in the former Polish city of Wisla. She formed part of Gwen's band of guns-for-hire and is its last survivor alongside its founder. A lot of the information she has provided has been largely assumed as false given her tendency to either exaggerate her own feats or go on lenghty, incoherent tangents about whatever crosses her mind and an uncanny ability to confuse fact with fiction (the report about her entire tale about her supposed action in Kosovo had to be thrown to the trash after it was discovered to be a plot for a comic book with the names replaced). What's known about her is that she has a propensity for going to battle with overpowered low-capacity handguns under a childish assumption that it makes them more effective. Despite all of this, her notable strenght, resistance to pain and endurance make her an useful addition to the UDI at least.

Kriemhilde Schillingfürst Westerwelle is the only member of the UDI who join the military-industrial complex because she was forced to. She was born to a very wealthy Westphalian family who owned large portions of the steel manufacture corporation Andrace International. She spent most of her youth travelling the world's luxury hotels and venues, costing her family several millions while giving nothing in return until their patience ran thin. She was forced by her father, under threats of disowning, to serve in the private military company Remple GmbH to 'gain character'; where she was finally trained into a medical specialist. Little by little she gained appreciation for her work within the military and even volunteered for the UDI after they requested that a corpsman be added to their squad after suffering a multitude of wounds during a mission in the Arabic Gulf.
